Untick sizes in Options if you want a smaller file.
About the formats
ICO bundles several icon sizes in one file. Browsers use it for favicon.ico and Windows uses it for shortcut icons.
Questions
Where do I put favicon.ico?
Upload it to the root of your site so it is reachable at /favicon.ico. Most browsers pick it up automatically, or add <link rel="icon" href="/favicon.ico"> to your pages.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. Decoding and encoding run in your browser with WebAssembly. Open your browser's network panel while converting and you will see no image data leave the page.
How many images can I convert at once?
Up to 500 files per batch, each up to 256 MB. Download them one by one, as a ZIP, or save them straight into a folder in Chrome and Edge.
Is camera data like GPS location kept?
No. Output files are written fresh from the pixels, so EXIF data such as GPS position, camera model and date is dropped. Photos are rotated upright first, so nothing ends up sideways.
