Convert HEIC to JPG

Turn HEIC files into JPG right in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

Good to know

  • The HEIC decoder loads the first time you add a file, so the first one takes a second longer.
  • Quality starts at 82. If a site has an upload limit, set a target size and the converter finds the highest quality that fits.

About the formats

HEIC is what iPhones and iPads save photos as by default. It's compact, but Windows, Android apps and most websites still can't open it without help.

JPG is the default photo format on cameras and the web. Every app, browser and upload form opens it, but it has no transparency and loses a little detail each time it is saved.

Questions

How do I convert HEIC to JPG?

Drop your HEIC files on the box above, or tap it to pick them. JPG is already selected, so conversion starts right away. Download each file, or grab them all as a ZIP.

Will converting HEIC to JPG reduce quality?

A little, because JPG is lossy too. At quality 82 most people can't see a difference. Use Compare on a finished file to check before you download.

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. Decoding and encoding run in your browser with WebAssembly. Open your browser's network panel while converting and you will see no image data leave the page.

How many images can I convert at once?

Up to 500 files per batch, each up to 256 MB. Download them one by one, as a ZIP, or save them straight into a folder in Chrome and Edge.

Is camera data like GPS location kept?

No. Output files are written fresh from the pixels, so EXIF data such as GPS position, camera model and date is dropped. Photos are rotated upright first, so nothing ends up sideways.
