Rotate images

Rotate by 90 degrees or mirror photos, then save without uploading anything.

Good to know

  • Press Edit on an image's row to rotate or flip it.
  • Photos that look sideways in some apps are usually fine here, because camera orientation data is applied automatically.

About the formats

Rotation by 90 degree steps moves pixels without resampling, so there is no loss beyond the final save.

Questions

Why does my photo look rotated in one app but not another?

Cameras store the orientation as a tag instead of rotating the pixels. Some apps ignore it. Converting here writes upright pixels, so it looks the same everywhere.

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. Decoding and encoding run in your browser with WebAssembly. Open your browser's network panel while converting and you will see no image data leave the page.

How many images can I convert at once?

Up to 500 files per batch, each up to 256 MB. Download them one by one, as a ZIP, or save them straight into a folder in Chrome and Edge.

Is camera data like GPS location kept?

No. Output files are written fresh from the pixels, so EXIF data such as GPS position, camera model and date is dropped. Photos are rotated upright first, so nothing ends up sideways.
